Outage leaves thousands powerless in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA (KUSI) – 7:38 a.m. – CHULA VISTA (CNS) – Crews expected to have service restored to 4,476 utility customers in Chula Vista, Castle Park, Otay and Bonita by 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The affected areas include neighborhoods east of Broadway, west of Interstate 805 and south of D Street to L Street, according to Chula Vista police.

The outage also caused a delay on the Metropolitan Transit System’s blue line trolley.

A second outage at 4:35 a.m. affected utility customers in the San Diego neighborhoods of Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs and Point Loma, according to SDG&E. Power there is expected to be restored by 10 a.m.

6:21 a.m. – A power outage left nearly 4,500 Chula Vista homes and businesses in the dark Wednesday morning.

The outage struck for unknown reasons at 4:11 a.m., according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

It knocked out power to 4,476 utility customers in Chula Vista, Castle Park, Otay and Bonita.
