Power outages across San Diego County

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The heavy rain is bringing a lot of problems for people across the county, including power outages and flooding.

This storm has knocked out power to some customers around the county.

What we just learned from Bill Harris with the city of San Diego is there are extensive power outages in Pacific Beach, affecting street lights and pumping stations.

The largest power outage showing is in the San Ysidro area with over 400 people without power.

Power is expected to be restored there around 9:00 p.m.

In the Torrey Pines/ Sorrento Valley area, over 400 customers there without power and SDG&E estimates those customers should have power around 8:00 p.m.

And in the Mira Mesa and Scripps Ranch area, there are just over 130 customers without power, which should be back up around 7:00 p.m.

And for those who are still without power or who are flooded out, the Red Cross has opened a shelter.

The Red Cross said the shelter will provide for the immediate needs of those affected by the storm who do not have a place to stay, including food and backup clothing and personal hygiene items.

The address of the Red Cross is 4747 College Avenue.

The shelter is located at the College Avenue Baptist Church.

The Red Cross said the shelter will remain open for as long as there is a need.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department is also providing sandbags at every San Diego Fire station and the lifeguard stations in Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, La Jolla Shores and Pacific Beach.

There is a limit of 10 sandbags per household or business.
