Pre-game activities begin for the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – The countdown to the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl college football contest gets going in earnest Wednesday with a flurry of pre- game activities.
The annual Kickoff Luncheon will be held at the San Diego Convention Center, beginning at 11 a.m. with a Battle of the Bands in the Sails Pavilion. About 1,700 attendees are expected.
The luncheon follows a press conference by the head coaches of the University of Washington, Steve Sarkisian, and the University of Nebraska, Bo Pelini.
Always an interesting sight, the balloons that will be carried aloft in the Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade will be inflated beginning at 4 p.m. in the parking lot of Solar Turbines on Harbor Drive.
The balloons — like Thomas the Tank Engine, Hello Kitty and Bob the Builder — require a total of 46,000 square feet of helium.
The parade is touted as having more large inflatables than any other in the country.
The Huskies and Cornhuskers face off at Qualcomm Stadium on Thursday night.
