Alarm Clock Pep Rally Game: El Cajon Valley Braves 32, Clairemont Chieftains 28

The Chick-Fil-A Alarm Clock Pep Rally game in Week Three brings us our most competitive game as El Cajon Valley beat Clairemont 32-28.

The Clairemont Classic opening scoring with a touchdown run by Devon Rensfield. The game saw 3 turnovers in just the first quarter. It looked like the Chieftains had things locked up when they found the end zone for a second time as Dylan Suitts ran the ball in but the Braves would battle back. The athleticism of El Cajon Valley quarter back Tyson Smith showing as he found the end zone on the keeper and the two point conversion was good. Before the half Braves Luis Morales scores his first of two touchdown runs that put the Braves up by two points at half.

Second half the back and forth battle continues. Clairemont would score with Jay Rensfield in the third and Maquel Garner would counter with the touchdown run in the 4th to give the Braves the 24-21 lead. For the Braves their two point conversions kept them up with the edge.

With the Chieftains down 32-28 and a 1:20 remaining in the game they faced a 4th and 4 that was stopped about a yard short. That defensive stop put the game right in the Braves hands. Quarter back Tyson Smith was able to rattle off a long run securing the win over Clairemont. 


The Chick-Fil-A Alarm Clock Pep Rally game in Week Three takes us to Clairemont High School as they host El Cajon Valley. Both teams are undefeated to start the season.

The Chieftains are coming off a huge victory over Francis Parker. Twin backs in Jay Rensfield and Devon Rensfield were able to run in touchdowns to get Clairemont off to a quick start. With the success of their wing-t offense, quarterback Griffin Catarius has also been able to step up his game and throw touchdown passes. Their defense was key in their victory against the Lancers as  were able to hold them to just 7 points.

El Cajon Valley has had wins over Kearny and Montgomery to start the season. In both games they scored 40 points. Their quarterback Tyson Smith has thrown for 2 touchdowns this season and ran in 5 himself. They also rely heavily on running back Marquel Garner to find the end zone and pick up some yardage.
