Alarm Clock Pep Rally Game: West Hills Wolf Pack 31, Santana Sultan 20
The Chick-Fil-A Alarm Clock Pep Rally game in Week Two no sleeper as the Mayor’s Cup continues to stay on the West Hills side.
The Wolf Pack pulling off a 31-20 victory over the Santana Sultans.
West Hills starting strong. Jovan Bea with the 30 yard touchdown run just two minutes into the game set the tone. Santana struggled to keep a hold of the ball fumbling twice in the first quarter, especially tough after converting a 4th a 2. Meanwhile Wolf Pack’s quarterback Hayden Roach threw two touchdown passes to Mitchell Carlin and Jason Villasana helping build a 21 point lead at half.
Second half the Sultan’s came out fired up as the sidelines pumped up the team and forced a West Hills 4 and out. Sultan’s Bobby Wallace would run in a touchdown and Josh Oedewalt would throw one to Anders Tolhurst to cut the West Hills lead to 10. That’s as close as the Sultan’s would get.
The Jack E. Dale Cup or the Mayor’s Cup stays with West Hills for the 5th year in a row. They have won 12 of the last 14. Up next for the Wolf Pack is their first home game of the season against Mission Bay. The Sultan’s will head to Castle Park where they will look for their first win of the season.
The Chick-Fil-A Alarm Clock Pep Rally game in week two brings us to Santana High School as they host rivals West Hills for the Jack E. Dale Cup. The two schools sit just three miles apart from one another. Friday’s match up marks the 27th Annual “Battle for the Cup,” which began in 1990. West Hills has won 11 of the last 13 match ups, including last seasons thrilling three point victory. Both teams are entering week two with losses on their respective records.
The Wolf pack took a loss in week one thanks to a 24-21 score handed to them by Southwest EC. West Hills is led by junior quarterback Hayden Roach and a veteran offensive line. Expect seniors Griffin Guinn and Jovan Bea to help attack the Sultan’s with their run game. In order to get a win Friday they will rely on the leadership from their men in the trenches, Kevin Ah key, Oscar Morales and Zachary Weaver.
Santana is also coming off a loss in week one thanks to The Bishop’s School. The Sultan’s are led by junior quarterback Josh Oedewaldt. Oedewaldt connected with Brock Ellis in week one for Santana’s first score of the game. Expect them to lean on senior wide receiver Aidan Rasmusson and running back Bobby Wallace in week two to get the offense on the board more often. They will also need the leadership of senior captains Trent Forster and Spencer Gulihur.
