Recap: Army-Navy vs. La Jolla Country Day
Friday October 13, 2014: The Army-Navy Warriors traveled down south to take on the La Jolla Country Day Torreys in a non-conference game in honor of breast cancer awareness. The Warriors couldn’t keep up with the fast paced offense of the Torreys with a final score of 41-0. It was a battle of turnovers in the first quarter with two fumbles by each team and a total of 4 turnovers. The second quarter picked up with a 60 yard run by La Jolla Country Day’s Darien Brown down to the 4 yard line, which was capped off by a 1 yard quarterback sneak by Braxton Burmeister to make it 7-0 Torreys. The aerial attack by the Torreys was too much for the Warriors when later in the second quarter Burmeister threw a 28 yard touchdown pass to Brennan Goring bringing it 21-0 La Jolla Country Day at half.
Army-Navy was unfortunately plagued with injuries in the third quarter. The Warriors couldn’t get their ground impound going due to an injury to running back Isaac Ross who was the heart and soul of their offense in the first half. The Torreys ran away with the game in the third quarter with a 39 yard touchdown pass from Burmeister to DDarienBrown to make it 35-0 La Jolla Country Day. Mid-way through the third quarter Army-Navy’s Elijah Countryman was injured making a tackle and slow to get up. The senior wide receiver and defensive back was carted off the field ending the game in the third quarter prematurely. The Prep Pigskin Report wishes nothing but a speedy recovery to Countryman; our prayers are with him and his family.
