Helix Highlanders 65, Bonita Vista Barons 0

Helix takes no prisoners. Tonight the Bonita Vista Barons traveled all the way from Chula Vista to take on the Helix Highlanders. The Barons have had difficulties this season, while Highlanders have been quite lucky so far.

The game kicked off with Bonita receiving, however the Highlander defense was ready for them. Big man on campus, Isaac Taylor-Stuart, intercepted a pass and was able to gain possession for the Highlanders. They then quickly found their way onto the scoreboard when Carson Baker threw a 33 yard touchdown pass to Rashad Scott. When the Barons regained possession, it was Rashad Scott who made an interception and ran the ball in for a 49 yard touchdown leaving the score at 13-0. Bonita had a few first downs, but were pushed far back after a sack by Michael Shawcroft. After the Barons punted, Carson Baker threw a 4 yard touchdown pass to Isaac Taylor-Stuart. The Barons gained possession again, but their quarterback was sacked again, this time by Aundray Hill. When the Highlanders regained possession, Taylor-Stuart rushed for a 25 yard touchdown changing the score to 27-0. After yet another interception by Rashad Scott, Isaiah Wooden rushed for a 7 yard touchdown. Shortly afterward, Jayden Tauanuu of the Highlanders, would intercept a pass and return it for a 37 yard touchdown with the score now at 44-0. Helix’s defense was clearly having a very successful game. The final touchdown of the first half would be a 3 yard rush by Delshawn Traylor, leaving the score at halftime 51-0.

At the start of the second half, Helix coaches decided to put in the second string players. Throughout the third quarter, the Barons’ defense improved, but the Highlanders would eventually score twice in a row both by Delshawn Traylor. The final score of the game would be 65-0. This season, despite one loss, Helix has become a very impressive unit when it comes to both offense and defense putting points on the board.
