Christian Patriots 13, Morse Tigers 6

RECAP:

The Christian Patriots (6-2) ventured to Morse High School (3-5) in this Week 9 match-up to take on the Tigers. First quarter the Patriots were first to put points on the board, with a 36 yard field goal booted by senior Nate Cazares 3-0 Christian. The Patriots would keep the lead up until the second quarter, after Morse running back Martell Irby runs the ball in from the one yard line, 6 to 3 now Tigers. Christian would then respond with a 29 yard field goal by Cazares, his second field goal of the night, tying the game yet again going into halftime 6 to 6. Picking back up in the third quarter, it quickly turned into a game of great defense as both sides were unable to score for the rest of the second half. The game would then go into overtime resulting in a Patriot 25 yard touchdown, ran in by Nick Sexton for the victory. Final score 13-6 Christian…

This not only marks the third consecutive win for Christian, but also gives the Patriots the title of “League Champions”. They go on to play The Hoover Cardinals (3-5), who are also coming in from a win against The Serra Conquistadors (0-8). As for Morse, the Tigers will be getting ready to duke it out against Patrick Henry (3-5) next week at Morse High School.

PREVIEW:Week 9 is upon us and with Friday steadily approaching we have a City League match up you don’t want to miss. The Christian Patriots (5-2) travel to Morse High School to rally against The Tigers (3-4). The Patriots are coming in from last week with a win against the now 0 and 7 Serra Conquistadors. It has been a long season so far for Serra, but Christian hopes to extend their now 2-game winning streak to Morse. On the other end The Tigers are coming in from a big upset against the St. Augustine Saints (5-2). Considered to have been their biggest competition thus far this season, the Saints defeated The Tigers 45 to 26. Players to look out for include Morse utility players Martell Irby a sophomore running back/defensive back and his brother Daquirae Irby, who plays wide-receiver/defensive back. Will Nate Cazares and The Patriot defense be able to stop Martell Irby and The Tigers?
