Christian Patriots 48, Santana Sultans 7

The Christian Patriots remain undefeated. In week 3 of San Diego High School football, one match-up we saw was the Christian Patriots against the Santana Sultans.

Sultan spirit was definitely evident throughout the stands, however that did not stop the Patriots’ game. The Patriots were the first to make the score board with a 24 yard touchdown pass thrown by Bradley Jeremiah and caught by Javier Jimenez. Christian was seen on the scoreboard shortly after with Jeremiah throwing a 28 yard touchdown to Jesse Matthews. When Santana gained possession, Alonzo Richardson of the Patriots intercepted a pass, causing a turnover. Bradley Jeremiah would then pass to Javier Jimenez once more leaving the score at 21-0. The Sultans then decided to put up a real fight and found their way onto the scoreboard thanks to a 3 yard touchdown rush by Dale Genschaw. The first half ended with both teams going back and forth.

However, when the second half began it was clear Christian was taking no prisoners. The Patriots were able to score twice in a row. But then, Santana regained possession, but they were forced to punt, and Nashom Carter of the Patriots returned the punt for a 70 yard touchdown. The Patriots then received a flag due to excessive celebration, but that didn’t stop them from getting the extra point.

By the end of the game, the final score was 48-7 in Christian’s favor. The Patriots are now currently 3-0 and even though the Sultans would not take home the win, this would certainly motivate them to do even better next week.

PREVIEW:One interesting matchup in week 3 of San Diego prep football involves one team seeking redemption, and another looking to keep its win streak alive. This week, the Christian Patriots(2-0) will be facing the Santana Sultans(1-1).

Last week, the Sultans participated in the annual Mayor’s Cup Bowl against West Hills, and for the sixth year in a row the Sultans were, unfortunately, defeated by the Wolf pack with a final score of 34-7. However, the Sultans’ quarterback Josh Oedewaldt, achieved 283 passing yards in the Sultans’ win against Castle Park one week prior to the West Hills game.

The Patriots’ 2017 season so far isn’t looking too shabby with an undefeated record. Last week Christian faced Boron in the Honor Bowl and took home a win with a final score of 62-6. In the game against Boron, Patriots’ quarterback Bradley Jeremiah, achieved 386 passing yards. The Sultans are currently ranked 5th in Division 3 while the Patriots are ranked 5th in Division 2 so this match-up should be a sight to see.
