Preview: Chula Vista Spartans vs. Otay Ranch Mustangs

Friday October 31, 2014: The Chula Vista Spartans (2-8) traveled East to take on the Otay Ranch Mustangs (4-4) in a Metro-Mesa League match-up, but was unable to secure a victory with a final score of 42-6 Mustangs. Both teams were winless in league and looking to keep their playoff hopes alive as the season starts winding down. The first quarter opened up with an interception by Adrian Rodriguez for the Mustangs who took the ball back to the 25 yard line. The ariel attack was too much for the Spartans to handle as Quarterback Oscar Limon seemed to have the hot hand tonight. He connected on a 9 yard touchdown pass to Ennovy Halton to make the score 7-0. Later in the first quarter, Limon found Adrian Rodriguez for a 36 yard touchdown pass bringing the score to 14-0 Mustangs. The Spartans defense didn’t have an answer for Limon in the first half when he connected for his third touchdown pass of the night in the second quarter to Devin Lloyd, 28-0 Otay Ranch.

The Spartans didn’t go down without a fight, in the third quarter quarterback Mario Cabada found Brandon Cabrera for a 17 yard touchdown pass, but the two point conversion was no good. It was all Otay Ranch in this one 42-6. You can find highlights every Friday night on KUSI’s Prep Pigskin Report!
