Bonita Vista 41, Chula Vista 3

Fans flocked to DeVore Stadium in support of the Bonita Vista on homecoming night and the Barons fulfilled the crowds’ wish with a 41-3 dismantling of Chula Vista Spartans.

Quarterback Anthony Posada threw for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns and the running game combined for 5 touchdowns as a full team effort put the Barons ahead 31-3 by halftime.

Chula Vista started out by catching a couple breaks. After a field goal on their first possession, the Spartans got the ball back in Baron territory after a fake punt trick play failed to reach the intended receiver. Chula Vista attempted two fourth down and one conversions, gaining the first and failing the second.

Baron running back Barrington Miller diced his way through the defense, scampering for 23 yards down to the 5-yard line and then scored a touchdown on the next play for a 7-3 lead. On the next Baron possession Posada faced a 4th and 4, he fired a deep pass to the corner of the end zone and hit Ethan Williams for a 29-yard touchdown. Posada added a 22-yard touchdown on a similar route to Keenan Ellis to extend the lead to 21-3.

An interception lead to a Baron field goal and then a strip sack of the Spartan offense set up Bonita Vista with one more touchdown going into halftime. Chula Vista won an onside kick to start the second half, but another interception lead to the Barons final touchdown and put the game out of reach.

Chula Vista (2-5) heads home to face Eastlake, while Bonita Vista will take on Otay Ranch on the road.
