El Capitan Vaqueros 0, Grossmont Foothillers 37

Week 7 came to an end with the Grossmont Foothillers defeating the El Capitan Vaqueros 37-0. The Foothillers remain undefeated after tonight’s win.

The stands were packed, the cheerleaders were dressed in pink for breast cancer awareness month, and the Red Jackets were there to cover it all.

In the first quarter of the game, the Foothillers did not waste any time putting points on the board. Hunter Gaines threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Domonique Guevara to give Grossmont an early 7-0 lead.  Grossmont then recovered their own kick return covered by Jonnathan Salazar, but the Vaqueros shortly picked it off. The Foothillers quickly turned the ball around after Andrew Mink recovered a fumble, which lead to Hunter Gaines throwing a 6-yard touchdown pass to Domonique Guevara to give Grossmont a 14-0 lead.

Still in the first quarter, Hunter Gaines threw an interception picked off by Javier Vidalez but they just couldn’t get the ball down the field for the touchdown and the first quarter ended.

In the second quarter, the offense from the Foothillers continued to push down the field and increased the points on the board. Gaines threw a 30-yard touch down pass to Zak Farris. The first half was still going strong for Grossmont at this point. Hunter Gaines threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Zach Jones. The first half ended with the Foothillers up 30-0.

The Foothillers came out strong and pushed their offense down the field to beat the Vaqueros. Grossmont will have another home conference game vs. Valhalla next Friday night. The El Capitan Vaqueros will have a home conference game vs. Helix.
