Nelson Photo Pigskin Idol Game of the Week: Fallbrook Warriors 28, Hoover Cardinals 9

Week Six of the Prep Pigskin Report brought the Nelson Photo Pigskin Idol Game of the Week to Hoover High as the visiting Fallbrook Warriors receive their first win of the season.   The final score was 28-9 causing Hoover to fall to a record of 1-4.

The first half of the game consisted of a battle between both defenses as the halftime score was 9-7 Hoover.  Hoover looked like the dominant team sacking Fallbrook quarterback Christian Cruz consecutively and making crucial fourth down stops.  After a made field goal, Cardinals Arturo Jara Tapia would score on a seven-yard touchdown run finishing their total points of the night.

The Fallbrook Warriors ignited their night after Ethan Martin blocks a Cardinals punt and Stazi Tomacelli catches the loose ball in the end zone to put them on the board. From then on, the Warriors fought their way to their first win.

In the second half, Jalen Webb would get the offense going with a 39-yard touchdown run, one of his two for the night.  Just like the first half, special teams stepping up for the Warriors with another blocked punt and recovery for the touchdown.

To put the game away was the Nelson Photo Player of the Game Jalen Webb as he gets his second touchdown of the night with an 18-yard touchdown run.

Next week, the Hoover Cardinals visit the La Jolla Vikings (1-4) for Faculty Appreciation Night.  Fallbrook heads to Escondido (2-4) for their Week 7 matchup.  Want to see extended highlights from this game?  Head over to and click on PPR RAW at the bottom of the page where you can find extended highlights for every game.

PREVIEW: Week Six of the Prep Pigskin Report brings the Nelson Photo Pigskin Idol Game of the Week and this Red Jacket to Hoover where the Cardinals (1-3) host the Fallbrook Warriors (0-5).

Fallbrook has nine consecutive losses including three shutouts the last three games.  But the Warriors won’t let that change their hard work and effort every week.  After last week’s turnovers, quarterback Christian Cruz won’t be dwelling on it, but rather learning from it as he and his offense try to get the job done.

As for the Hoover Cardinals, they come off a bye week where head coach Jimmy Morgans claimed their main focus was simply to rest their body and get healthy.  The Cardinals overall game plan has been to keep the offense on the field as much as possible to run the clock.  But with their offense going to work, defense needs to make crucial stops so they don’t allow 48 points like they did against Morse in Week Four.

When asked about Fallbrook, Coach Morgans said,” they have played a tough schedule and they are hungry for a win.”  What’s the Cardinals goal this week?  “Put our best foot forward and play just as hard.”

Coach Morgans also claimed, “we feel we have a good shot [at playoffs] as anybody else.”

Fallbrook visits Hoover this Friday where kickoff is slated for 6:30pm.  Can’t make the game? Don’t worry, the Prep Pigskin Report has you covered starting 10:30pm every Friday night.
