Foothills Christian 50, Horizon Prep 18

Friday’s game between the Foothills Christian Knights and the Horizon Prep Lions was a clash between two teams riding very different waves of momentum. Heading into Friday’s matchup the Horizon Prep Lions were on a three-game losing streak and searching for their first win of the season. On the other side of the field, the Foothills Christian Knights were on a four-game winning streak and looking to take advantage of a relatively inexperienced opponent. After the dust settled on Friday night, the Lions remained winless, and the Knights extended their impressive win streak to five games.

For Foothills Christian, the versatility of their players was on full display against Horizon Prep. Six rushing touchdowns scored by five different players will also help any team on their way to scoring 50 points for the night. Before getting to the goal line and pounding it in with their physical run game, the Knights used a good mix of pass and run plays to keep their opponents on their toes and guessing.

For Horizon Prep, the inability to convert on third down situations had the team losing momentum throughout the game and repeatedly put the ball back into the hands of the opposition. Unfortunately for Horizon Prep, the opposition was clicking on all cylinders in this game and by the end of the first half they were already trailing 36-12. The early advantage taken by Foothills Christian ultimately proved too much to overcome for the Lions. Horizon Prep did however show flashes of good football. They were able to score three touchdowns and would have had a lot more if they had found more ways to move the chains. The Lions are a relatively new football squad and they may need a little more time to fully develop. There is however no doubt that the potential is plentiful with Horizon Prep’s lines.

The Horizon Prep Lions will continue in search for their first win when they take on Victory Christian Academy Knights. The Foothills Christian Knights will look to extend their win streak to six games when they face the Warner Wildcats.

PREVIEW: Friday’s matchup between the Foothills Christian Knights and the Horizon Prep Lions will feature two teams headed in very different directions. After starting the season 0-2 with a pair of scoreless games, the Knights of Foothills Christian have now won four consecutive games and have done so by finding their rhythm on offense. The Horizon Prep Lions have managed a good offense of their own but have been unable to come up with a win so far this season.

During their four-game winning streak, the Foothills Christian Knights have been able to completely overpower their opponents on offense, and do well enough on defense to keep the opposition in check. In their last few outings, the Knights averaged over forty points while boasting a potent rushing attack. Try ten rushing touchdowns in two games, and at least four different players scoring in each of those games. The recipe for success seems simple for the Foothills Christian Knights: Keep doing what you’ve been doing.

The Horizon Prep Lions need to find a way to slow down Foothills Christian if they are to have any chance at winning this game. This task seems much easier said than done. The Lions will be facing a versatile offensive attack that has recently picked up quite a bit of steam. In order to keep this train from rolling, Horizon Prep must either find ways to limit many talents of Foothills Christian, or find a way to outpoint the Knights. If the Lions can keep their offense on the field and use up the clock, they can limit the number of possessions for Foothills Christian, and avoid that fearsome offense.
