Hilltop Lancers 55, Hoover Cardinals 0

In Week 3 of the PPR, the Hoover Cardinals (0-3) traveled down to Hilltop (3-0) as they faced off with the Lancers.

Hilltop came out swinging on the first play of their second drive after a 60 yard pass from Alex Tejeda to Gus Ferreira was called back for on a holding penalty.

Just plays later Ferreira would find the end zone, this time for a 20 yard touchdown pass and later on a 10 yard touchdown pass from Tejeda. Making it 14-0 after the 1st.

In the 2nd quarter, Tejeda would throw another touchdown, this time on a screen pass to Angel Pineda whom powered his way through to the end zone.

Tejeda would throw another TD before the half would end when he connected with Tight End AJ Valterria just moments after Dominic Esparza scored on a 9 yard touchdown run.

The halftime score would be 34-0 and the Lancers would never look back as the clock would run the entire second half.

Dominic Esparza had another touchdown run in the second half that should be up for Play of  the Week consideration as he weaved his way from sideline to sideline.

Fellow back Jeremiah Rivera would also have a nice run from 40 yards out to find himself in the end zone for his first touchdown of the season.

The Final 55-0 Hilltop Lancers over the Hoover Cardinals.

The Lancers will travel to the Hives Nest next week as they face off with the Lincoln Hornets at 7pm.

As  for the Hoover Cardinals, they head back home for another tough opponent in the Morse Tigers

Its another week for high school football and the weeks are going by fast. Believe it or not, we are currently in Week 3.
This week the schedule takes me to the hill as the (2-0) Lancers of Hilltop host the (0-2) Hoover Cardinals.
Hoover is off to a rough start under new Head Coach Jimmy Morgans who is taking over the helm from Jerry Ralph in 2016. Ralph took the cardinals to a CIF finals appearance in 2014 and an overall 26-20 record in 4 years at the Hoover.
The Cardinals defense has allowed 106 points on while the offense hasn’t been able to get anything going for the last two games.
The Lancers on the other hand are off to a hot start under new Head Coach Drew Westling.
Hilltop was battle tested last week at La Jolla as the Vikings took a 5 point lead into the fourth quarter but the Lancers would fight back for a 24-21 victory with their no huddle fast paced offense.
The players to watch in this game will be Quarter Back Alex Tejeda, Running Backs Dominic Esparza, Angel Pineda, and Wide Receiver Gus Ferreira.
