Preview: Mission Hills vs Bonita Vista
The Mission Hills Grizzlies (1-1) will take on the Bonita Vista Barons (0-1) at Southwestern College. Mission Hills looks to repeats their journey last year as the Grizzlies took over the latest ‘Open Division’ and finished strong in the championship against Oceanside in the finale of 2013.
Mission Hills Coach Chris Hauser leads his Grizzlies into his 11th season with the team. Last year Hauser won their first section championship despite playing in the title game three times. Hauser got the monkey off their back as they beat the Oceanside’s Pirates’ powerhouse twice for the first times last year, including a championship victory 36-14. The Grizzlies offense features some of the best widewide outsthe county with Seniors DeChaun Holliday and Martrel Holmes. Holliday and Holmes figure to put up nice numbers with a new starting quarterback. We all know defense wins championships and that will be key for Hauser and his Grizzlies. Only 4 of 11 players on defense are returning led by DE Jerad Chatwood who stands 6’5” and weighs 240 pounds. Chatwood was a 1st team all-league player of the Avocado league last year as he gets set to lead this defense for the 2014 season.
The Barons and Bonita Vista will have their hands full as they take on the top team in the county. Under Center is Sophmore Sophomoreack Anthony Posada as he hands the ball of to RunningbaRunning backguille who led the rushing attack in their first matchup against Vista. Boguille rushed for 57 yards on 13 carries. Junior Wide Receiver Michael Skiff leads the team with 3 receptions. The Barons look to get something started as they failed to score a touchdown against Vista in week 1. This will look to be an uphill battle for Coach Chris Thompson and his Barons.
