Week 5: Bonita Vista Barons 21, Patrick Henry Patriots 6

The Bonita Vista Barons took their first win of the season Friday night.

The Barons’ 21-6 victory over Patrick Henry puts them at 1-4 and the Patriots at 0-5.

Both teams battled it out and left their heart on the field.

Patrick Henry’s senior tight end Jacob Adleman opened the scoreboard with a 67 touchdown run. With a phenomenal pass from junior quarterback Matthew Castillo and catch by Adleman it was a running game all the way to the end zone. The play gave the 6-0 lead to the Patriots, but unfortunately the extra PAT was not good.

Still in the first quarter, the Barons responded with a touchdown of their own.

Inside the Patriot 10 yard line Bonita Vista senior quarterback Kevin Rozar ran the ball in to the endzone for a 10-yard touchdown. Bonita Vista took the lead 7-6 and would end the first half of the game leading the scoreboard.

In the third quarter, Bonita Vista proved they were ready for a victory that was long overdue.

Sophomore sensation Saiyvion Williams completed a 5-yard touchdown run that increased the Baron lead 21-6.

The Junior running back was not done there, he was ready to put more points on the scoreboard.

In the fourth quarter, Williams completed another run that put another seven points on the board. He ran the ball 10 yards to give Bonita Vista the 21-6 lead.

The game ended with a 21-6 Bonita Vista victory.

Next week the Barons will host Hilltop in a home non-conference game. Patrick Henry will be hosted by Kearny in a conference away game.

Great night for Bonita Vista, they celebrated their first win in two years. Congrats to all the Bonita Vista High School teachers and Teacher Appreciation Night.

Week 5 in the South Bay brings us to an exciting battle between the Patrick Henry Patriots and Bonita Vista Barons. Both teams come into the game with their first victory in mind. For one of these two, the thought will become a reality.

The Patriots currently have a 0-4 record in non-league play. They come into this game with hopes of redemption as last week they took a difficult 41-3 loss to El Capitan High School.

Non-league play is all about learning and improving, the team must unite to grow from their previous games. After all, the Patriots are a band of brothers who battle until the end and never give up. Their perseverance will always be seen on the field.

The Barons also have a 0-4 record in non-league play. Last week, Bonita Vista had a dwell in the East County facing the defending state division champions, the Steele Canyon Cougars.

The 47-7 score may have gone to the Cougars, however the commitment and dedication to the Baron uniform prevailed.

Never giving up and staying true to the Navy and Gold. They must bring all their might this Friday to be victorious on the field.

Patrick Henry versus Bonita Vista is set for 7 p.m. at Southwestern College.
