Pleasant Grove 49, Torrey Pines 36
The Pleasant Grove Vikings came into San Diego off a week one win. They continued that momentum as they knocked off the Falcons of Torrey Pines 49-36. The high powered Vikings offense hit Torrey Pines with a quick no-huddle offense. Quarterback Christian Miller spread opened the field with option plays and plenty of screens to his receivers. Torrey Pines took a quick lead in the 2nd quarter 16-7 with the help of a turnover and a 33yard run by running back Quinn Morimoto. The ensuing kickoff Vikings’ running back Coleman Edwards took the kick 98 yards to put them within two points. After a couple scores from both teams, Pleasant Grove again took the lead off a 40yard touchdown pass from Miller to Bub Wilde after blown coverage in the Falcons’ secondary. After a trick play by the Vikings, it set up a 19yard touchdown run by Koy Wilkinson to pull away from the Falcons. Torrey Pines responded to put the game within five points. The Vikings’ star receiver Jacob Doman sealed the deal with a 98yard touchdown catch from Miller. Pleasant Grove will return to Utah victorious, and with a (2-0) record. Torrey Pines drops to (0-2) and will try to find a way to win next week.
