Preview: San Marcos Knights vs Mt. Carmel Sundevils

In a pivotal North County matchup, the San Marcos Knights travel to play the Mt. Carmel Sundevils Friday night at 7pm on senior night. 

Both squads are 5-3 on the season with two games to play before the postseason starts. A win this week could solidify one of the two teams as a notably higher seed, where as a loss might just make for a horrendous first round playoff battle. 

Although both teams have been playing well all year, having three marks in the loss column certainly has come unexpected. Both the Knights and Sundevils started the year with lofty expectations and predictions of competing for County and State titles. 

San Marcos will be concentrating on rebounding from last weeks 38-21 heartbreaking loss to the La Costa Canyon Mavericks, while Mt. Carmel looks to build on their 24-14 defeat of the Del Norte Nighthawks. 

The Sundevils will need to find composure and not look ahead to the final week of the season when they visit the 1-7 Westview Wolverines, and the Knights can regain glory versus the mighty Mission Hills Grizzlies.
