El Cajon Valley Braves 35, Southwest 8

The El Cajon Valley Braves were just too much for the Southwest Raiders tonight as the Braves defend their turf and improve to (3-1) on the season with this victory. Southwest is now (0-5) looking to get their first win in week 6. The Braves quarterback Tyson Smith was the star of the night as he had four touchdowns that were all quarterback keepers. He also had a defensive interception which ended the game. The Brave’s running back Junior Rosas was the only other person to score besides Tyson. Rosas pounded in a 5 yard touchdown. El Cajon’s star running back Nathan McCullough started off strong despite having two long touchdowns taken back because of penalties. Nathan was injured early in the game with a concussion. The Raiders sophomore Joshua Sanchez was their play maker. Sanchez stands as 5 feet 5 inches and he was able to intercept a 6’6 wide receiver with a jump ball early in the game. Sanchez got a lot of carries and even though he wasn’t able to get the yards he would have liked, he showed great speed and athleticism. He is only a sophomore and will be a kid to keep on your watch list for the next two years. The final score of the game was El Cajon Valley Braves 35, Southwest Raiders 8.

PREVIEW:

It is Week 5 of high school football and we are taking a look at the Southwest Raiders (0-4) @ El Cajon Valley Braves (2-1). As the Raiders have struggled to begin their season, they look to turn it around and come out with a win. The Braves look to defend their home field and come out with their third win of the season. El Cajon Valley started this football season with new head coach Parris Pisiona. Pisona has shown that he can lead his team to victories as they have two early in the season.

El Cajon Valley had an exciting game last week as they went to overtime with Kearny and came out with the victory. Running back Nathan McCullough and Quarterback Tyson Smith have had a huge impact on the Braves and are looking to put up big numbers against the Raiders.

Southwest coach Paco Silva believes his team is better than their record shows and will continue to improve his team week by week. The Braves are the favorite in this game but the Raiders won’t let that bother them going into this game. Southwest know they will have to put up a fight in order to get a victory on Friday night.

The game will be at El Cajon Valley on Friday 9/25 @ 7 PM. To watch the highlights and all other San Diego County high school football game highlights tune in to KUSI’s Prep Pigskin Report Friday night at 10:30 PM.
