Week 6 Preview: St. Joseph Academy Crusaders 46, Horizon Prep Lions 22
The early summer heat of August and early September has left us behind for St. Joe’s Academy 46, Horizon Prep 22
wonderful, temperate weather, which has lent itself perfectly to this CIF football season so far.
Just past the midway point in the season, this week’s action continues at Horizon Prep, where the 8-man Lions will host the visiting St. Joseph Academy Crusaders.
Horizon, carrying a 2-1 record into this Citrus League matchup, is fresh off a 13-7 road victory over Ocean View Christian.
Meanwhile, the Crusaders are hot off a 54-8 victory over Rock Academy, moving them to 1-2 on the season.
St. Joseph began the season with a loss to St. Michael’s Prep and then a forfeit loss to Foothills Christian, but the massive rebound last week should give the Crusaders all the momentum they need to pull off a positive result on Friday. St. Joseph carries a team with a strong physical presence and should look to lean heavily on the run game.
On the other sideline, the host Lions preceded their win last week with a 60-42 win at Warner, before dropping the next road result at the San Diego Jewish Academy. Running back Kasey Bowles is sure to be one of the major threats in this offense and has shown his explosive potential on runs of more than 90 yards this season.
Be sure to catch the action live at 3:30 pm, or catch the highlights and final score on KUSI’s Prep Pigskin Report, Friday night at 11 p.m.
