Week 1: Torrey Pines Falcons 13, Eastlake Titans 0
The Falcons soared over the Titans under the Friday night lights. Torrey Pines took the first win of the season, shutting out Eastlake 13-0 and starting off their season 1-0.
First half of the game both teams were strong defensively, only one touchdown was scored.
In the first quarter, quarterback Jason Heine ran the ball for a 19-yard touchdown making it 6-0 Falcons. The field goal attempt was no good for Torrey Pines. Eastlake’s defense did not give up, tight end Joshua Mccurty proved to be force to be reckoned with as he sacked the Torrey Pines quarterback. In a later play, Eastlake responded with another power play, a 54 yard run by wide receiver Kevin Bateman.
In the second quarter, again Joshua Mccurdy completed another sack with 6:45 left on the clock.
With 3:32 left in the fourth quarter, points are put on the scoreboard when the Falcon’s Evan Galluzzi run for a 3 yard touchdown, making it 13-0 Falcons.
The game ended with a Falcon victory. Both teams proved to be strong defensively. Next week Torrey Pines will host the San Clemente Tritons, and Eastlake will host the Hilltop Lancers.

We are back and at it again! Thank you for your continued loyalty and support to the PPR, especially during our 20 season anniversary! Week 1 of high school football will kick off this Friday, in the South Bay we will not disappoint.
The Torrey Pines Falcons will be making a non-conference trip to the Eastlake Titan’s home turf.
The Titans return this season with all to prove, their 20-10 loss to El Camino in the Division I Championship game shows they are a force to be reckoned with. Knowing the quality and caliber of their team, the Titans are ready to climb back to top and secure their place in another championship game. They completed the season with an impressive 10-3 overall record and 3-1 in league play. For Eastlake winning is a team effort, and returning players will have a key role in future victories. Senior running backs Roman Coe and Parker Merrifield had phenomenal contributions to the previous season. Coe completed 887 all purpose yards and Merifield 704.
Last season the Falcons made it to the first playoff round but was cut short due to their loss to the Mission Hills Grizzles 20-17. Their season ended with a 7-5 overall record and 3-3 in league play. This year Torrey Pines ranks 40 in the state and have the potential to make it even further in the season. Senior quarterback Jason Heine will be a key player to watch, last year he completed 1,064 passing yards. Senior running back Mac Bingham proved to be unstoppable with an impressive 1271 all purpose yards.
Torrey Pines vs. Eastlake is set for 7 p.m. at Eastlake High School.
