Tri-City Medical North County Game of the Week Preview: El Camino Wildcats 42, Torrey Pines Falcons 31
El Camino running back Chris Brown Jr. put his name atop the pack as a Silver Pigskin candidate, after his 169 yard rushing, four touchdown performance in El Camino’s( 3-1) 42-31 win over Torrey Pines (2-2) at Herb Meyer Field on Friday night in the Tri-City Medical North County game of the week.
The falcons looked sharp in the 1st half running their Wing-T offense to perfection, they were also helped by two bad snaps on Wildcat punts, that gave them a short field as they went into the half with a 24-19 lead.
Second half of the game was a different story, El Camino’s defense lead by Rocky Katoanga forced a turnover on Torrey’s 1st drive in the 3rd, leading to a Rense Garner TD, which was sprung by a great block from Brown. Same thing happened on the Falcons second possession of the quarter, another strip and recovery by the Wildcats lead to a Jaden Casey to Malachi Russell TD.
El Camino would put a bow on their best win of the season when Brown ran for his 4th score of the game in the 4th quarter.
Next week Torrey Pines will travel to Westview, while El Camino will travel to undefeated San Marcos.
Torrey Pines takes their ground game to El Camino in the Tri-City Medical North County game of the Week. The Wildcats were one of the pre-season top 10 teams come in with a 2-1 record after a tough loss at Citrus Hill in Perris.
El Camino is lead by RB Chris Brown who has run for 227 yards in 3 games this season, as well as QB Jaden Casey who averages 231 yards passing per game. On defense Rocky Katoanga is a play maker, his highlight film includes an 18 tackle performance against Rancho Bernardo in a week 2 win.
Since returning to the Wing-T when Ron Gladnick took over, the Falcons are the model of precision. Senior RB Sully O’Brien and Junior QB Jason Heine lead the ground game. What makes this team special is when the ground game is working they can eat up clock. Like the Wildcats the Falcons have yet to lose to a team in the San Diego Section.
