Nelson Photo Pigskin Idol Game of Week: West Hills Wolf Pack 28, Mission Bay Buccaneers 0

West Hills coming into Week 3 of the football season with a winning mentality after their Mayors’ Cup win last week and tonight it showed. The Wolf Packs record now is 2-1 after a 28-0 win over the Mission Bay Buccaneers.

In the first quarter, West Hills’ Ricky Wilson set the tone of the game with two touchdowns putting the Wolf Pack up 14-0.  After forcing the Wolf Pack to punt, the Buccaneers had an opportunity to get some points on the board but could not capitalize.  Once again, the Buccaneers tried to respond with an attempted field goal but it was blocked by West Hills very own Ryan Jewell.

With five minutes into the second half, West Hills extended their lead with an 18 yard run by Austin Dill to set up quarterback Jordin Young for a four yard touchdown.  The remainder seven minutes of the third quarter was the longest possession for Mission Bay, but could they execute?

Third quarter possession highlighted Buccaneers’ quarterback Jaiden Correia’s arm and Wessly Danzy’s hands as they connected for two big plays.  Unfortunately, the Buccaneers could not capitalize and fall to a record of 0-2.

The West Hills Wolf Pack continue their winning momentum to Mount Miguel (1-2) while the Mission Bay Buccaneers host Rancho Bueno Vista (2-1).

Preview: The Week 3 Nelson Photo Pigskin Idol Game of the Week brings the West Hills Wolf Pack (1-1) to Mission Bay for the Buccaneers home opener (0-1).

After hosting the Corvette Diner Alarm Clock Pep Rally last week, the West Hills Wolf Pack found their groove on the field with their 34 -7 win over Santana.  Junior quarterback Jordin Young started to feel comfortable as he threw two touchdowns and a total of 124 passing yards.  Though he completed 13 of his 16 passes, Young also showed off his ability to run with his own touchdown.

The Wolf Pack look to continue their passing game with receivers Reese Wiltgen and Ryan Jewell.  Together they had 48 yards and one touchdown.

For the first time this season, the Buccaneers will get a chance to play in front of their home crowd as they come back from a bye week.  Week 1 didn’t’ go as planned for the Buccaneers but having a bye week last week sure can help their performance this week.

With quarterback Jaiden Correia’s high football IQ and mentality of having to prove something, we can expect him to be in high command as well as getting his offense energized.  On the defensive side, Isaiah Mitchell looking to step up and provide stops.  In Week 1, Mitchell recorded a block on an attempted field goal.

As the Wolf Pack come off a big win for the Mayors Cup last week, the Buccaneers had an extra week to regroup before their home opener.  The matchup begins at 6pm where you can also find this Red Jacket along with Pigskin Idol, Alison Washburn.
