Proposal to credit water customers after Poway precautionary boil
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – In November, rainwater runoff entered Poway’s water system causing the State to order a precautionary boil order which lasted six days.
At a December City Council meeting, Mayor Steve Vaus proposed that that the council consider issuing a onetime water bill credit equal to one week of customer’s normal water bill including the commodity (water) and fixed charges.
The council supported the request that staff calculate the cost of such a credit and found that the credit to be at approximately $400,000.
At Tuesday night’s Poway City Council meeting councilmembers will vote on whether to issue the credit.
Mayor Vaus said on Good Morning San Diego that he expects City Council to approve the credit.
