Protest against AB 5 interrupts event held by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez-Fletcher

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – State Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez was holding an event tonight, but it was interrupted by a couple hundred protesters.

Protests were against Assembly Bill 5, a legislation she sponsored.

AB5 mandates independent contractors, with few exceptions, to be reclassified as employees — and vocal critics include workers for Lyft, Uber and trucking companies.
