Protesters gather in Balboa Park against police brutality
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Protesters gathered Saturday in Balboa Park as part of a National Day of Resistance, protesting police brutality and racial profiling, police said.
“About 150 people were in El Prado standing by the fountain protesting peacefully,” San Diego Police officer Frank Cali said at 12:45 p.m.
Similar marches called in New York City and Washington, D.C. were expected to draw tens of thousands of protestors, and be mirrored in communities nationwide.
The protests were part of a growing wave of public anger in the aftermath of recent grand jury decisions to not indict St. Louis police officer Darren Wilson and New York police officer Daniel Pantaleo for the killings of Mike Brown and Eric Garner.
