Protocol for parents when there’s a suspected measles case

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Measles is highly contagious and can be extremely serious for young children.

Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego Infection Control Coordinator Megan Medina joined Good Morning San Diego to discuss measles protocol.

• Goal is for families contact their primary care doctor or emergency room first before visiting the location
• Leave patient in car and have a family member go into the ER to notify a medical provider
• Symptoms for measles:
• Running Nose, Rash, Water Eyes, Fever
