Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee to discuss cybersecurity
On Wednesday, March 21st, the City of San Diego’s Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee will hear two items on the topic of cybersecurity, per the request of Committee Chair, Councilmember Chris Cate.
With worldwide cybersecurity spending estimated to reach $96 billion in 2018, the cybersecurity industry is becoming a major factor for corporations, government entities, and employers. According to the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, San Diego is home to more than 21,920 cybersecurity jobs with an economic impact of $2.37 billion.
“We must remain vigilant when it comes to cybersecurity. Every minute, hackers are trying to find vulnerabilities to access our systems. We must shield and secure ourselves, our families, and our City,” stated Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee Chair, Chris Cate.
