Rancho Bernardo 41, Escondido 7

As expected, this game was a very uneven battle between two teams with almost opposite records on the season. The Rancho Bernardo Broncos (5-2) beat the Escondido Cougars (0-7) at home by a score of 41-7.

The game started out well for the Broncos when Tucker Reed connected with Kameron Calhoun for a 70-yard pass reception. The Broncos went into the 2nd quarter 7-0 up.

Early in the 2nd quarter the Broncos found the end zone again when Tyree Range ran the ball ten yards for an easy TD. The Cougars responded quickly, Josh Navarro ran the ball five yards over the goal line. For as second it looked as though the Cougars had a glimmer of hope. Sam Fenalson squeezed in a 15 yard FG for the Broncos before the half to leave the score 17-7.

After the break, Tyree Range dazzled through his opponents to pick up a 15-yard TD run for the Broncos. They continued their scoring when Tucker Reed found Devaughn Vele with a wonderful 50 yard pass for a TD.

With the closing quarter, the Broncos put the nail in the coffin. Kameron Calhoun rampaged down the sideline after a 55-yard reception for a TD. Then, Sam Fenalson absolutely buried the Cougars with a 10-yard FG to end the game 41-7.

Kameron Calhoun racked up two TD’s and 145 yards on the night for the Broncos, giving his team the edge they needed to roll over their opponents. The Cougars meanwhile should look to better their game as they have not yet managed to win this season.
