Week 7: Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns 43, Escondido Cougars 29

The matchup between the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns and Escondido High School Cougars was an eventful game, as both teams came in headstrong.

Rancho Buena Vista took home the 43-29 win, but Escondido’s Senior Night was a success. Congratulations to all the seniors who are part of the program.

The Longhorns’ Dorian Richardson, was on fire tonight.

Richardson rushed for over 250 yards with four touchdowns. You can say he was a moving tank.

There was nothing stopping quarterback Scott Meyer and Richardson, as the duo dominated the second and third quarter.

Furthermore, PJ Vaivai d two big sacks against Escondido’s QB. RBV had a great offensive game.

The Cougars put up a good fight in the second quarter.

Quarterback Robbie Ramos’s main targets consisted of sophomores Tajae Brooks, Matt Malone, and Dominic Fabela. Brooks executed a 77-yard pass touchdown, which brought the Cougars score: 6-15, RBV in the lead.

At the end of the day, both RBV and Escondido’s overall football record is currently 3-3. They are tied for third in the Valley League behind Valley Center, which is first, and Ramona, which is second.

We have an exciting Valley League game lined up as the Escondido High School Cougars take on the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns on the Cougars’ home turf.

Get ready once again for Friday night football as Week 7 quickly approaches.

Currently, RBV has an overall record of 2-3. Head coach Joe Meyer and the Longhorns will need to pick up some wins to move up the rankings.

The Cougars have a steady 3-2 overall record with head coach Jud Bordman. This game will set the tone for each team and bragging rights.

Last season, RBV and Escondido High School competed against one another in Week 5. The final score of the game was 15-10, RBV.

Longhorn rising seniors Scott Meyer, the quarterback, and Greg Stephens, a running back and outside linebacker, are the dynamic duo to look out for offensively.

Alongside is Dorian Richardson with 180 rushing yards last year in the game.

Stay on the lookout for these three players.

Sophomore Robert Ramos continues as quarterback for the Cougars this season. Ramos shined in Week 5 this season with a big win, 56-17, against Fallbrook. We’ll see what he has in the bag for RBV this week.

What a special night Friday will be as it is the Cougars Senior Night. 15 seniors will be honored for their dedication and fellowship towards their team and athletic program. It’s going to be one special night for these young men.
