Rancho San Diego bank robber remains at large

RANCHO SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Authorities have made public surveillance photos in hopes of identifying the man who robbed a bank branch in a Rancho San Diego shopping center and remained at large Tuesday.

The suspect approached a teller at the California Bank and Trust at 3787 Avocado Blvd. shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday and asked for a pen, FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth said. He then passed the teller the note he had written that said he was armed and wanted cash, he said.

No weapon was displayed, Foxworth said.

The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the robber left the bank, Foxworth said.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white man of about 40, about 5 feet 9 and 180 pounds, with a medium build and brown hair. He was wearing a blue baseball cap with yellow lightning bolts on the sides and yellow trim, a blue t-shirt with “On Optimum” on the front and white earbuds.

Anyone with information on the robbery was asked to call the FBI at (858) 320-1800, or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
