Accused Walmart sex offender pleads not guilty to charges

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Wednesday — Robert Becker, 22,  is facing two felonies and one misdemeanor charge for allegedly following and video-taping a young girl inside a Walmart bathroom. 

On Wednesday, Becker stood before a judge and pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently being held in lieu of $500,000.

Tuesday — A registered sex offender was arrested Monday on charges of taking cell phone video of a girl in a public restroom.

Robert Becker, 22, is suspected of committing similar crimes in the East County and potential victims are being urged to come forward.

On Wednesday, August 17, Deputies from the Lakeside Sheriff’s Substation were called to the Walmart located at 13487 Camino Canada in unincorporated El Cajon. A ten-year-old girl told deputies a man followed her inside the womens’ restroom. She said the man got into a stall next to her and used a cell phone camera to record her while making lewd comments.

The suspect took off before deputies arrived.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Family Protection Detail arrested Becker on Monday, August 22 at his home in the 4000 block of Alpine Boulevard in Alpine.

Becker was identified through the store’s surveillance video.

Becker is facing charges of attempted lewd and lascivious acts on a minor, annoying or molesting a child with a prior conviction and disorderly lewd conduct.

More charges may be pending.
