Rep. Duncan Hunter introduces bill targeting sanctuary cities
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – After the shooting death of Kathryn Steinle by a five-time deported, seven-time convicted felon Francisco Sanchez, local Congressman Duncan D. Hunter wants to put an end to sanctuary cities.
Hunter will reintroduce legislation that targets the cities that harbor illegal immigrants.
The bill would cut off funding for the state criminal alien assistance program also known as SCAAP which reimburses the cost of holding illegal immigrants convicted of crimes.
According to the Bureau of Justice Assistance, last year the state of California received $41 million in SCAAP funding.
