Report: Padres to announce Andy Green as manager
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – According to numerous reports, the Padres will announce Arizona Diamondbacks third base coach Andy Green as their new manager at a press conference this afternoon.
Green played parts of four seasons in the majors before starting his coaching career in 2011.
Green, 38, will replace interim manager Pat Murphy, who was hired after Bud Black was fired in June with the Padres 32-33.
Murphy was the fired earlier this month after the Padres finished the season 74-88 and fourth in the NL West, 18 games behind the division champion Dodgers.
The Milwaukee Brewers recently hired Murphy to be their bench coach while Bud Black was reportedly hired by the Washington Nationals as manager, according to ESPN.
