Republican Brian Maryott advances to face incumbent Democrat Mike Levin in general election for CA-49

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – There are just two candidates running to represent the 49th Congressional District, which encompasses the northern section of San Diego County, and parts of South Orange County.

Democrat incumbent Mike Levin and will be challenged by Republican Brian Maryott.

Maryott is the current Mayor of San Juan Capistrano, and a conservative businessman, father of three children, and husband to his wife Michele. Maryott says he is running for Congress “to restore common-sense representation to the 49th Congressional District.”

Maryott told us how he plans to gain more support between now and November on Good Morning San Diego.
