Rescue crews working to extricate driver trapped in vehicle near Ballena

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A commercial vehicle rolled over on Highway 78 near the community of Ballena Friday, leaving the injured driver trapped in the wreckage, a Cal Fire spokesman said.

The crash was reported shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Highway 78 at Old Julian Highway, according to Capt. Issac Sanchez, who said the unidentified driver sustained major injuries.

A stretch of Highway 78 near Witch Creek was closed to traffic as crews worked to extricate the driver from the wreckage, he said.
