Ante raised in search for dog killer

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Rewards totaling $7,000 were announced Monday for new information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever fatally poisoned 10 dogs in Lincoln Park.

Five of the dogs were found in the El Rey Trailer Plaza on April 16. The next day, three more were found, and the day after that, two more were found in the mobile-home complex on South 47th Street.

“We are making great progress in the case, but there is a lot of evidence to evaluate before we can make an arrest,” according to Randy Lawrence, director of investigations for the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA. “Any additional information pertaining to the case could help us speed up the process.”

More than half of the reward money — $5,000 — was raised through anonymous donors, according to the SD Humane Society and SPCA. Another $1,000 came from San Diego County Crime Stoppers and another $1,000 was donated by the El Rey Trailer Plaza Management Office.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or at Tipsters can also contact the SD Humane Society at (619) 243-3466 or
