Rick Perry delivers speech before GOP leaders in San Diego
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Republican party is setting its sights on the 2016 election, with the hope of returning a Republican to the White House.
GOP leaders have been holding a series of meetings this week in San Diego, and hearing from some of the men who may be presidential candidates.
Governor Rick Perry, with a reputation as the most powerful governor in the history of modern Texas, delivered an eloquent farewell speech in his home state Thursday. On Friday, he was at the Hotel Del Coronado to focus on what might be the next chapter in his political career.
Perry who faltered in his 2012, presidential bid, seemed ready to try again. Four days after his successor was sworn in as the next Texas Governor.
Perry will be in Iowa to speak at a high profile gathering of conservatives. Iowa, of course, is important since it’s the state that holds the first Presidential Nominating Caucuses.
Since 2012, Perry has been there at least eight times, and appeared at 33 events, more than any other potential GOP candidate for the 2016 election.
