Road rage fight leads to stabbing in Chula Vista

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Road rage led to a crash, a fight, and a deadly stabbing alongside the Chula Vista Golf Course.

Chula Vista Police Department identified the victim in Tuesday’s fatal stabbing as Horace Williams, 36-year-old from National City.

According to police a man in his thirties was allegedly driving aggressively and “ticked” off the suspect, 60-year-old Rickey Smith.

The suspect in the stabbing remained on scene and surrendered to officers without incident said police.

Officers believe a folding-blade knife was the stabbing weapon, was found on his belt.

Witnesses say they were threatening and provoking each other when one driver decided to throw a bottle at the other car. The road rage culminated and the older driver’s white pickup truck collided with the silver minivan.

Rickey Smith was arrested for murder and will be booked into County Jail. Detectives from the Crimes of Violence Unit are continuing their investigation.
