Rollover crash in Vista sends driver to hospital

VISTA (CNS) – A rollover crash on state Route 78 in Vista Sunday sent a motorist to a hospital and prompted authorities to temporarily close half of the eastbound freeway lanes.

The crash was shortly after 11:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near Melrose Drive. It involved up to four vehicles, one of which — a white SUV — rolled several times and may have taken out a call box, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Fire officials closed two freeway lanes following the crash, but had reopened one by around 12:15 p.m., authorities said.

One person involved in the crash was taken to a hospital to be treated, a North County fire dispatcher said. The severity of that motorist’s injuries was not immediately known.
