Romney running again?

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Washington post is reporting Republican party leaders are trying to draft Mitt Romney to run for president.

The article claims ranking members of the GOP assumed Donald Trump and Ben Carson would, "fizzle in time," but they haven’t.

That is scaring members of the party and sending them scrambling to find someone else.

So, will Romney run?

Not if his wife has anything to say about it.

Ann Romney appeared on Good Morning San Diego last month. Carlos Amezcua and Lisa Remillard asked her about this exact scenario.

"I’ll tell you the truth. Every morning Mitt and I look at each other and I go, ‘high five!’"

Mrs. Romney said that she and Mitt are just loving their life right now.

"Of course do I wish Mitt had won? Do I wish he were president? Do I think things would be different if he had been there? Do I think we’re having a a terrible time with Russia that he foresaw? Do I think all these things? Yes," she said, "We’re just really happy we’re not part of the process."

They asked Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich the same question when he was here just a few days later.

"I think it’s mechanically very hard to do … it’s a really big project and Mitt knows that," he said.

Romney hasn’t commented on the Washington Post article, but again, it’s not looking like another run for president is likely.
