Salk Institute’s High School Science Day

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Salk Institute will hold its annual March of Dimes High School Science Day tomorrow welcoming to its world-renowned campus approximately 300 teachers and students from 26 different area schools across San Diego county and Southern California.

The half-day event features tours of Salk laboratories in specialties ranging from cancer to neuroscience to plant science, as well as lunch and scientific talks.

Salk Vice President and Chief Science Officer Martin Hetzer will give students an introduction and Salk postdoctoral research associates and UC San Diego graduate students will explain their scientific research and offer students opportunities to participate in experiments, including imaging plants and neurons, identifying mutant worms and purifying proteins.

The event is on Saturday, February 29, 2020 beginning at begin at 9 a.m.
