Sam the Cooking Guy discusses the success of outdoor dining for San Diego restaurants
LITTLE ITALY (KUSI) – After Little Italy’s successful “Al fresco” dining experience last weekend, restaurants in other areas of San Diego, like the Gaslamp District, are preparing to move their operations outdoors to increase capacity while abiding by social distancing regulations.
Retailers are even thinking about doing the same. It’s all part of the City of San Diego’s plan to eventually transform Fifth Avenue into a pedestrian promenade. Businesses who wish to participate can apply for outdoor business permits starting Friday on the City’s Development Services website.
One of San Diego’s most popular restaurant owners, Sam Zien, also known as “Sam the Cooking Guy,” discussed the success local restaurants are seeing with expanding operations to include outdoor dining on Good Morning San Diego.
