San Diegan wins age group in Ironman World Championship

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – San Diego resident, Richard Sweet, 55, was awarded the world championship title in the Male 55-59 age-group at the 2018 Ironman World Championship.

Sweet finished the 140.6-mile triathlon in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i on Oct. 13th with a time of 9:14:23.

The Ironman consists of a 2.4-mile (3.9-km) swim, followed by a 112-mile (180.2 km) bike ride, finished off with a 26.2-mile (42.1 km) run.
