San Diego based TuSimple is the first autonomous driving company to go public

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Just a few years ago, San Diego’s self-driving truck company TuSimple was just getting started.

Now, TuSimple is one of the region’s most highly valued public companies.

TuSimple creates self-driving trucks and the software used to run them.

The 6-year-old business raised more than $1 billion Thursday when it listed on Nasdaq in its initial public offering, selling at a rate that valued the startup at $8.5 billion.

In 2019, the startup was valued at $1 billion.

TuSimple CFO Pat Dillon joined KUSI’s Paul Rudy on Good Morning San Diego to discuss the company in more detail.
