San Diego bay prepares for renovation project
The ticket booths for two tour boat operations on San Diego Bay are scheduled to be moved Tuesday to a temporary location to accommodate work on a waterfront renovation project.
The booths for Hornblower Cruises and Events and Flagship Cruises & Events will be relocated to the foot of Navy Pier.
The companies offer cruises in the bay. Flagship also conducts whale watching excursions and the ferry between Coronado and downtown San Diego.
The move is a part of the $28.6 million first phase of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan, which will include a 105-foot wide public esplanade stretching from Navy Pier to the B Street Pier.
Both bay tour operators will eventually have new, permanent ticket booths as part of the renovation project.
According to the Port of San Diego, the two ticket booths handle a combined 1.25 million passengers per year.
