San Diego Bike Coalition to celebrate completion of El Cajon Boulevard bike lanes

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Cycling activists, led by the San Diego County Bike Coalition, will host a six-mile ride along El Cajon Boulevard Friday to celebrate the recent completion of bus and bike lanes along the thoroughfare.

The Bike the Blvd Spectacular event will include pop-up outposts along the route with free food and drinks, live entertainment and prize drawings. The ride will also coincide with the first-ever First Fridays at Blvd Court community event, located at 2104 El Cajon Blvd.

Riders will meet at Blvd Court at the intersection of Alabama Street and El Cajon Boulevard, where LightMeUp Safety Lights will offer cycling essentials like bike lights for sale. The route will continue along El Cajon Boulevard, ending at Belching Beaver North Park, located at 4223 30th St.

First Fridays is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with the Bike the Blvd Spectacular scheduled for 7 p.m. Residents can RSVP for the ride at facebook.com/events/731448067362199/?active_tab=discussion.
