San Diego Election Results: Mara Elliot edges out Robert Hickey for City Attorney
Mara Elliot was elected San Diego City Attorney over opponent Robert Hickey Tuesday, making her the highest ranking elected official in the city and the first woman to hold the position. Elliot spent seven years in the City Attorney’s Office. She received her law degree from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento.
The majority of Hickey’s career has been with the District Attorney’s office, prosecuting gang cases. He went to Poway High School, UC San Diego and received his law degree from University of San Diego.
The City Attorney seat was open this election because former City Attorney Jan Goldsmith had served the maximum two four-year terms.
