San Diego County squad car crashed into stopped van

SAN MARCOS (KUSI) – A San Diego County squad car crashed into a stopped van Sunday.

The van was stopped at a red light when the out-of-control squad car smashed into it as it exited State Route 78 onto West San

Marcos Boulevard around 2 a.m., Lt. Jim Walker said. There were 5 people in the van and two in the squad car, none were seriously injured.

The deputy had a young explorer with him and was headed to a possible assault with a deadly weapon call.

One child from the van and both people in the squad car were taken to a hospital for minor injuries. They were later released.
